Geplante Downtime von Mani-Admin-Plugin.com

Update: Das geplante Update wurde durchgeführt und hat gezeigt, dass es an einigen Stellen noch Probleme gibt. Deswegen wird es verworfen, bis es bessere Updatetools gibt. Als kleine Neuerung wurde jetzt eingeführt, dass News kommentiert werden können.

Ab Montag den 18.03.2011 21.03.2011 wird die Seite von Mani-Admin-Plugin planmäßig für 4 Stunden abgeschaltet. Es sollen Wartungsarbeiten vorgenommen und auf die neue Version von Jomla 1.6 aktualisiert werden. Nach dem erfolgten Update, muss sich jeder registrierte User ein neues Passwort per Mail zuschicken lassen.

Weiterhin kann in der Downtime Mani-Admin-Plugin über http://code.google.com/p/maniadminplugin/ oder unseren Mirror heruntergeladen werden.

Update: Der Poster hat sich wohl mit dem Datum geirrt. Sie meinen sicherlich den 21.03.2011.

Monday March 18th, we will be performing software maintenance on the website. We expect the resulting downtime to last about four hours.

All website based services will be offline during this time. We will use the downtime to upgrade our current CMS installation to the most recent Joomla! 1.6 build. This will allow us to be more flexible on user rights managment on our website and all of our users to benefit from the new features of 1.6. We will also use this opportunity to maintain our MySQL database and delete old users that haven't been logged in for more then 9 months to keep our database small, quick and fast responding.

But, there is one thing about the migration to 1.6, that needs to be told. After the migration, every user will have to reset the password he uses for log in. Why? Ok, right from the beginning: As we converted our users from the forum software SMF that we used before we switched to the Joomla! CMS, it was impossible to remove the SMF security salt, a security feature used to add random digits to the users password in the MySQL database, so we had to do a core hack to Joomla! to also use the SMF security salt instead of the Joomla! build in security features to allow our users to stil use their old passwords for log in. This core hack needs to be redone everytime we do update our CMS and is always an element of uncertainty when patching or using new features of Joomla! provided extensions. With the migration to Joomla! 1.6, we want to get rid of this old core hack.

So, in short terms, after the migration on monday you have to reset your password once to login successfully. We are very sorry for this inconvience but kindly ask for your understanding that we had to do this step in order to be able to cut down the ammount of time needed to maintain the website so we can spend more free time to focus on support and enhancing Mani Admin Plug-in itself.
