Serieller Port? Fehlanzeige! Wegrationalisiert...

Jetzt habe ich mir extra für meinen Server ein Nullmodemkabel gelötet welches sogar voll belegt ist und jetzt muss ich feststellen, dass mein Motherboard gar kein seriellen Port mehr hat. Komisch ist nur, dass ich im Bios den Port einschalten kann. Irgendwo müsste ich noch eine Slotblende dafür haben. Schon traurig, dass ich nicht mehr weiß, was für ein Motherboard ich drin hab :-)

steht doch auf'm board drauf?! falls nicht dann zumindest eine fcc nummer über die sich schon mal der hersteller finden lässt

btw; mein board aus dem hersteller jahr 2006 hat weder seriell noch paralel (drucker) ports. dafür 2x gbit lan (wofür auch immer das auf heinem heim-pc / "gamer" board gut sein soll) und eSATA. also das was so seit 2008 genereller standart ist. den rest findet man heute eig. nur noch auf sog. business-boards. ganz schön bekloppt alles.

Ich hab meinen PC hier offen stehen. Leider ist hier so wenig Licht, dass ich die Schrift nicht erkenne. Das wär alles auch kein Problem, wenn ich kein Win7 drauf hätte. Everest gibt keinerlei Infos raus, Bin gerade dabei ein paar alte Festplatten zu sortieren. Das witzige ist, dass man sogar alte IDE-Platten im laufenden Betrieb an den Controller anschließen kann. Die Platte wird initialisiert und man kann darauf zugreifen.

IDE hotswap ist glaube ich ein windows feature. müsste ich aber selbst nochmal googeln um das mit sicherheit sagen zu können.

EDIT: mh, hab nicht wirklich was gefunden, kommt aber wohl doch eher auf den chipsatz des MoBo an.

Wir nutzen bei uns auf der Arbeit sehr viel die Serielle Schnittstelle (RS232) da wir die messgräte in den Anlagen damit ansteuern.
Man kann PCIe Karten schon ab 8,99 Kaufen. oder USB zu RS232 für 9,99.

Gestern haben wir einem WinXP System 9 stk. RS232 Schnittstellen verbaut

Vielleicht löte ich mir noch einen Anschluss für mein Board. Wenn ich herausbekomme, ob die Pinbelegung wie auf dem Connector und dem SubD-Stecker gleich ist ist, sollte das kein Problem sein. Den nötigen Stecker dazu werd ich mir dann auch noch beschaffen.

Bevor ist mir eine PCI/PCIe-Karte dafür einbaue, hole ich mir lieber einen USB2Serial-Adapter. Das hat noch den Vorteil, dass ich diesen am Laptop anschließen kann. Mein Netbook hat auch kein seriellen Port.

Ich hab jetzt herausgefunden, wie man normale IDE-Geräte unter Linux im laufenden Betrieb wechseln bzw. neu erkennen lassen kann. Der Artikel hilft weiter: http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/7321

Zur Zeit benötige ich das für einen Festplattencheck. Da ich meinen Server das schön machen lassen wollte und Linux schon direkt die passenden Tools dafür hat, bietet sich das an. Unter Windows müsste ich jetzt erst wieder nach passenden Tools suchen :-(
